LEID Products is participating in the Illinois Association of Property and Evidence Managers Training Conference. The Illinois Association of Property and Evidence Managers (IAPEM) seeks to promote education and professionalism among evidence management professionals in the State of Illinois. The event is taking place at the Wyndham Lisle-Chicago Hotel from April 17-19, 2013. LEID Products will be on hand to educate attendees on the BACS Evidence Management System – comprised of Electronic Evidence Lockers and BACS Evidence Management ID Station Kiosk – that provides secure storage, access and tracking which provides unparalleled chain of custody for evidence moving in and out of property rooms.

The IAPEM, established in 2005, welcomes any member who is involved in the collection, processing and retention of property and evidence for criminal justice agencies. The conference will have an emphasis on information sharing amongst law enforcement and evidence professionals, safety in dealing with hazardous materials, fingerprint development, DNA evidence issues and more.

“Consistency and chain of custody are two paramount concerns for law enforcement departments and criminal justice agencies,” said Sam Hoff, president of LEID Products. “The BACS Evidence Management System was designed to meet standards required by CALEA® (the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement). It assures proper evidence control and tracking by electronically tracking possession of evidence, limiting liability and consequences of exposure to human error.”

LEID Products Helps Law Enforcement Industry Properly Track and Control Access to Assets and Evidence

bacs_evidence_management_system_napd_webAuburn Hills, MI -  March 28, 2013 - LEID Products, LLC, the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced its participation at the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association Annual Trade Show (MCOPA). The annual event is taking place on Wednesday, April 3 at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel and Trade Center in Marlborough, MA. LEID Products will demonstrate secure storage and tracking for department assets, weapons and evidence in reseller SYSTEMATIC, Inc.’s booths #526-528. SYSTEMATICS, a leading provider of comprehensive storage and document management solutions, is the local dealer for LEID Products.

The BACS Asset Management System, a proven solution to secure and track critical assets for law enforcement departments across the country, will be on display in the SYSTEMATICS booth. The system encompasses the BACS ID Station Kiosk with biometric access interfaced to LEID’s electronic SmartRail Gun Rack and Electronic Access Cabinets to ensure equipment protection.

bacs_finalThe BACS Evidence Management System revolutionizes the way that police departments store and track evidence to ensure seamless chain of custody. LEID installed the BACS Evidence Management System in the North Andover Police Department in Massachusetts last fall. Impressed with the system’s performance, five months after its installation NAPD welcomed LEID Products in to share the BACS system’s benefits through a video. According to Chief of Police Paul J Gallagher, “The system is fantastic! The North Andover Police Department is very happy with how easy the BACS Evidence System is to use. All of our officers agree that the system makes their jobs easier. Dropping off evidence is a much faster process than ever before, and chain of custody has been significantly improved.”

Officers can drop off and pick up evidence without having to track down the evidence officer. This saves time, resources and the potential that improper handling could negatively affect a court case where that evidence is required to come to a decision. BACS software provides reports by property number, case number, officer and date resulting in solid chain of custody reports. The system is offered with biometric access, LCD-keypad and/or an optional card reader. The system can be customized for departments with barcode or RFID evidence.

“Property and evidence control and tracking is a critical process for all law enforcement agencies,” said Sam Hoff, president of LEID Products. “LEID Products’ BACS Evidence Management System guarantees the procedure complies with proper chain of custody regulations by electronically locking evidence in tamper proof storage cabinets, only allowing access to approved personnel through custom software tracking controlled by biometric access.”

MCOPA seeks to advance professional police services, promote administration, technical and operational practices, as well as foster cooperation and the exchange of information among police leaders. More than 1,500 law enforcement professionals from New England gather every year at its annual trade show to interact with chiefs, command staff, sheriffs, municipal officers and department heads.

Police Department Realizes Significant Benefits Using LEID Products

North Andover Police Department Thrilled with BACS Evidence Management System Including Superior Chain of Custody Documentation to Prosecute Criminal Cases

Auburn Hills, MI – September 25, 2012 – LEID Products, LLC., the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced that the North Andover Police Department in Massachusetts has successfully implemented the BACS Evidence Management System including LEID’s Electronic Evidence Lockers and BACS Evidence Management ID Station Kiosk. The department has been using the BACS Evidence System to access and track all evidence moving into and out of the property room for a month and have already achieved better chain of custody, increased accuracy in reporting, and time savings.

Property and evidence control and tracking causes enormous concerns in law enforcement. The process for tracking evidence typically consists of manually filling out property forms, which leads to errors and inconsistent chain of custody records. The BACS Evidence Management ID Station Kiosk houses a biometric ID reader for access verification and the touch screen user navigation. The ID Station is also interfaced to LEID’s Electronic Evidence Lockers providing the secure temporary storage of evidence incoming and outgoing from police department property rooms. The system includes complete chain of custody custom software tracking and reporting capabilities to monitor all evidence transfers. Property room managers also have remote management capabilities to access, monitor and manage the system while off site. Additional layers of security can be added with options including: hand geometry scanner, ID card reader, RFID evidence reader, and evidence barcode reader.

The North Andover Police Department no longer uses a manual process for evidence tracking. Evidence tracking is ensured through the BACS system and officers are no longer wasting time tracking down detectives in order to access the evidence room. Beyond tighter chain of custody and time savings, the department now has top of the line reporting features for administrators.

“The North Andover Police Department is very happy with how easy the BACS Evidence System is to use,” said Chief of Police, Paul J. Gallagher. “All of our officers agree that the system makes their jobs easier. Dropping off evidence is a much faster process than ever before, and chain of custody has been significantly improved.”

The BACS Evidence Management System was introduced at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference in October of 2011, and the company is pleased to be returning to the show this year in San Diego, CA, September 30 – October 2. LEID Products will be located in Booth #4211, where they plan to showcase how evidence ‘chain of custody’ is electronically tracked and accounted for with the BACS Evidence Management System, limiting liability and consequences of exposure to human error. North Andover Police Department to Implement LEID’s Evidence System in New Station

Auburn Hills, MI - March 14, 2012 - LEID Products, LLC., the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced the North Andover Police Department in Massachusetts will be implementing their new BACS Evidence Management system including LEID’s Electronic Evidence Lockers and BACS Evidence Management ID Station Kiosk. The department will use the BACS evidence system to access and track all evidence moving into and out of the property room.

“The North Andover Police Department is looking forward to the installation of the LEID Products biometric evidence system for our new police headquarters,” said Chief of Police, Paul J. Gallagher. “Evidence control must be strictly adhered to and chain of custody is a major factor in courtroom presentation. The system will allow our police and evidence officers to maintain detailed documentation and avoid defense motions.”

Property and Evidence control and tracking is a monumental concern for law enforcement. Introduced at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference in October of 2011, the BACS Evidence Management system is designed to help departments meet standards required by CALEA®, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, as outlined in Chapter 84 “Property and Evidence Control”. Evidence ‘chain of custody’ is electronically tracked and accounted for with the BACS Evidence Management system, limiting liability and consequences of exposure to human error.

“North Andover Police Department has been instrumental in formulating the blueprint in terms of needed requirements in the development of LEID Products new state-of-the-art evidence management system,” said Sam Hoff, president of LEID Products. “The process began over two years ago while the department was in the final phase of planning for their new station. Chief Gallagher has graciously agreed to allow us to invite fellow police chiefs to visit their building, if they wish to see the system once installed.”

North Andover Police Department is among a select group of accredited police departments in Massachusetts, recognized for their commitment to continually strive to increase department efficiency and accountability to minimize exposure to liability and to enhance public reputation. In May of 2010, North Andover Police Department became the 29th out of roughly 350 police departments to earn the highly-regarded accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.

BACS systems - developed for LEID Products by Patti Engineering (www.pattieng.com) - have been used to secure, track critical assets for a wide range of customers. While new to the property room application, BACS has been a proven asset management system used in law enforcement departments throughout the country to securely store and track weapons and valuable equipment allowing for full accountability of armory assets. LEID Products recently announced version 2.0 of the BACS ID Station Kiosk, which includes enhancements to its sleek tamper proof construction and larger kiosk screen for additional security and functionality.

Electronic Evidence Locker with Chain of Custody Tracking

Electronic Evidence Locker with Chain of Custody Tracking

Temporary evidence storage goes hi-tech! Chain of Custody is critical for putting criminals behind bars and our new system ensures the chain will not be broken! Property and Evidence control and tracking is a huge concern, especially for Law Enforcement Departments seeking to establish standards required by CALEA®, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, as outlined in Chapter 84 “Property and Evidence Control”. Our Evidence Lockers are electronic with custom software tracking and reporting capabilities. Officers can both drop off and pick up evidence, no need to track down the evidence officer for court. Reports by case number, officer, and date ensure solid Chain of Custody reports to use in court. We offer systems accessed through Biometrics (fingerprint), LCD-keypad and/or optional card reader. If you barcode or RFID your evidence, we have an option to add a barcode or RFID reader.
