LEID Products to Showcase iLibrary System at KPLA Conference
The iLibrary System, an Innovative Standalone Service Branch will be Demonstrated at Kentucky Public Library Association Conference
Auburn Hills, MI - April 9, 2012 - LEID Products, LLC., the leader in electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced they will be attending the Kentucky Public Library Association Conference April 11-13 in Bowling Green, KY. The company will showcase their iLibrary System, which has been implemented in six counties in Kentucky, in addition to the existing iLibrary installations around the country.
LEID Products recently announced that Scott County Public Library will offer extended library access to patrons through the introduction of the iLibrary System in Sadieville, KY. Also recently announced are new enhancements to the iLibrary Kiosk, which serves as the point of access and interfaces with Electronic Modular Access Units that house the library materials ordered. The new kiosk includes a larger screen, a sleeker, more modern appeal, and the entire system is tamperproof to ensure system safety in public areas. Patrons can browse materials online or directly through the iLibrary System Kiosk. Orders are placed through the kiosk or remotely via the internet using their library card number and patrons can choose to receive an email or phone call with access code when their materials are available.
“We are excited about the array of sessions we are offering this year, from learning more about technology, such as eBooks and social media as they pertain to library services, to research information on genealogy and local history resources within the state,” said Susan Nimersheim, Library Director, Grant County, KY. “This conference enables library staff from across the state to meet and share experiences and knowledge with their peers.”
“LEID Products is proud to support the KPLA Conference; our iLibrary System has been tremendously successful and well received by library patrons in Kentucky,” said Sam Hoff, president of LEID Products. “Our public libraries continue to be faced with flat budgets, increased demands for services, and constricted open hours while the cost for construction and personnel continues to escalate. Our self-service iLibrary System allows public libraries to provide library access where a traditional brick and mortar library is not an option.”
The theme of the KPLA Conference this year is “Shaping the Future: Transforming Kentucky’s Public Libraries” and the show will take place from 8:00am - 5:00pm Wednesday, April 11 through Friday, April 13 at the Holiday Inn University Plaza in Bowling Green, KY. Close to 400 attendees are expected to attend.
This year, a very dedicated group of librarians and trustees compiled a program of education for trustee certification. The voluntary program ensures that everyone gets the same message, is made aware of the laws governing libraries, and understands fully his or her role and responsibility as a library trustee. At this year’s conference trustees have the option to achieve this certification.

LEID Products to Implement iLibrary System in Sadieville, Kentucky
Scott County Public Library to Offer iLibrary System, Standalone Service Branch for the Community at City Hall
Auburn Hills, MI - March 27, 2012 - LEID Products, LLC., the leader in electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced Scott County Public Library will offer extended library access to patrons through the introduction of the iLibrary System in Sadieville, KY. As part of a five year strategic plan, based on library needs as stated from the community, library staff determined a standalone, self-service branch outside of City Hall in Sadieville is an economical flexible solution to increase visibility and provide expanded access to library services. The system will be available after a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 10, 2012.
LEID Products today also announced new enhancements to the iLibrary Kiosk, which serves as the point of access and interfaces with Electronic Modular Access Units that house the library materials ordered. The new kiosk includes a larger screen, a sleeker, more modern appeal, and the entire system is tamperproof to ensure system safety in public areas.
Scott County Public Library will deliver materials to the system in Sadieville three times a week. The self-service iLibrary System encompasses the new iLibrary Kiosk, LEID’s electronic cabinet/lockers and a library drop box for returning materials. The library is also planning to build a three wall shelter so the system can be accessed 24/7. Patrons can browse materials online or directly through LEID’s iLibrary System Kiosk. Orders are placed through the kiosk or remotely via the internet using their library card number and patrons can choose to receive an email or phone call with access code when their materials are available.
“The iLibrary System gives an opportunity to expand on what our bookmobile has done for years - bring life-long learning to our rural areas,” said Earlene Arnette, Scott County Library Director. With the Scott County Public Library located in the southern end of Scott County, Arnette realized there was the need for library access in the more rural northern end of the county where library patrons have to travel 15 miles to visit the library.
“Our facility goal is to “expand the outreach of the library facility to serve the growing population of Scott County and further the mission of being the “Center of the Community.” Library facility refers to all physical services of the library regardless of location,” stated Arnette in her January 4, 2012 Georgetown News-Graphic column. “When discussing services for our outlying communities of Stamping Ground and Sadieville, we looked at outreach as a way to service these areas without building branches in areas where population cannot efficiently support a facility. Included in this goal will be the expansion of outreach services by creating drop off and pick up services in community areas.”
The county also intends to install the iLibrary System in the community of Stamping Ground, which is located in the northern part of Scott County.

LEID Products Announces Version 2.0 of the iLibrary Kiosk
Secure, Rugged and Tamper Proof Library Access System Made Possible by LEID Products
Auburn Hills, MI - March 27, 2012 - LEID Products, LLC., the leader in electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced version 2.0 of its iLibrary Kiosk. LEID Products iLibrary System includes the kiosk interfaced with LEID’s Electronic Modular Access Units to offer a complete “Express Library” solution. The iLibrary System provides communities with extended library hours, complete self-service access to library materials and can be placed at the location of the library for extended hours, or at other locations including community centers, retirement communities, commuter stations or malls for the convenience of library patrons.
Public libraries often face budget cuts but also increased demand for services due to cost conscious families who still wish to stay enriched and entertained. The LEID Products iLibrary System is a cost effective solution for libraries to make materials more accessible to all patrons, one of their top priorities. The system provides an innovative way to deliver services to areas where a full-service library may not be close by.
Library patrons can browse materials online or directly through LEID’s iLibrary System Kiosk. Orders are placed through the kiosk or remotely via the internet using their library card number. The patron will receive an email with access code when their materials are available. New enhancements to the iLibrary Kiosk include a larger 19″ screen, a sleeker, more modern appeal, durable 14-gauge steel construction and the entire system is tamperproof to ensure system safety in public areas.
“The initial concept for a self-service library originated in 2004 when library systems in greater Minnesota sought federal funds unsuccessfully while the needs of underserved residents remained unmet,” said David Foster, Vice President of Engineering, LEID Products, LLC. “Libraries across the nation continue to face flat budgets, increased demands for services, and constricted open hours while the cost for construction and personnel continues to escalate. Our iLibrary System is a cost effective way to provide library access to an extended number of communities. We are very proud to announce the enhancements we have made to the system kiosk.”

Library branches out
Program makes reading accessible to community

BEREA - The Madison County Public Library is everywhere.
Ruthie Maslin, director of the Madison County Public Library, explains the lockers and drop-off system of Library-On-The-Go to Earl G. Estes of Waco during its grand opening Friday outside the Cole’s Moberly Shell Station at 3306 Irvine Road. Library-On-The-Go will allow Waco and Moberly residents better library access by allowing them to reserve materials by phone and pick them up and drop them off at the satellite location.
In addition to its locations in Richmond and Berea and the Bookmobile that travels around the county, the newest edition is the Library-On-the-Go.
Library-On-the-Go has been in place for some time in the Kingston area in front of the Dollar Value Plus at 2750 Battlefield Memorial Hwy. in Berea.
A second location conducted its grand opening Friday at the Cole’s Moberly Shell Station at 3306 Irvine Road.
Located outside the gas station, Library-On-the-Go consists of a series of lockers and a drop box where material can be picked up or dropped off 24 hours a day.
“We’re hoping to cater to Waco and Moberly and the rest of the area,” said Ruthie Maslin, director of the Madison County Public Library. “Theoretically, you don’t have to go into Richmond or Berea to pick up or return your books.”
To use Library-On-the-Go, patrons are required to get a code sticker from the Madison County Public Library.
Once they have a code sticker, they can reserve items by phone. After the library notifies them that their holds are in, they have three days to collect the items from the locker.
To use the locker, patrons enter the last seven digits of their library card to open the door and remove their items and receipt.
A third Library-On-the GO is being planned at a yet to be determined location, Maslin said.
Along for the ride at Friday’s grand opening was the Bookmobile.
Drivers Beth Madden and Marcia Noe travel Monday to Thursday to 52 locations throughout the county, including daycares, schools, nursing homes, businesses and residential areas.
Patrons can check out a variety of books, movies, magazines, video games and compact discs.
Internet access also is available.
“We travel to any of the areas where it’s hard for people to get into town to one of the library buildings,” Madden said.
During a typical day, Madden and Noe drive the Bookmobile to designated spots between 9 a.m. to 5 or 5:15 p.m., remaining at each stop anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
Clay Berryman, outreach coordinator for the library, said Library-On-the-Go and the Bookmobile are designed to reach everyone in the county.
“We want to offer every service that is available at the library out in the community,” he said. “It’s a very convenient option.”
For more information about the programs, call the library at 986-7112 or 623-6704 or go online to www.madisonlibrary.org.
Tim Mandell can be reached at tmandell@richmondregister.com or 623-1669 ext. 6696.

Washington County Library uses LEID Products” iLibrary” Kiosk and Electronic Cabinets to offer their “Library Express” at Hugo City Hall!
Project made possible by a Grant from the US Institute of Museum and Library Services.

‘Library Express’ brings library service to Hugo
Published: Monday, July 12, 2010 3:54 PM CDT
Washington County Library has brought a new community asset to Hugo, as well as all Washington Library patrons, with the introduction of the Washington County Library Express.
 Hugo "iLibrary" Computer Kiosk
Library Director Patricia Conley called the Library Express an innovative new way to deliver services to areas where a full-service library may not be close by. She noted that this could also be an option for expanding library service in times of tight budgets and in diverse locations, such as transit centers.
“Hugo is a community which is seeing substantial growth. We want to make sure access to library services is a cost-effective benefit which can contribute to that growth,” Conley said.
Located at the Hugo City Hall, 14669 Fitzgerald Ave. N. in Hugo, just off State Highway 61, the Library Express offers a place where patrons can order, pick up and return library materials, using a self-service kiosk, locker system and book return.
“This is a new system for us, the first in the state, and we’re excited about the possibilities,” Conley said. “We’re cooperating with Carver County Library, and applied for a federal grant together and will share what we learn. Carver County is installing an Express Library in the City of Victoria. We hope this will be seen as a model for local governments working together to provide service more efficiently.
She said customers will be impressed how easy the system is to use.
“We can see people stopping by the Library Express to pick up their books right along with the rest of their daily errands. It’s a fast process and will only take a few minutes to pick up the items they have put on hold,” Conley said. “Because the Library Express is self-service and located outside Hugo City Hall, it will be open 24 hours a day. It can really be a convenient part of our customers’ daily lives,” Conley said.
The computer kiosk will be available during normal City Hall hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
To request books, customers use their library card number and must have an e-mail address on file with Washington County Library. Library cards are available online or through any Washington County Library. Using either the Library Express kiosk or the Washington County website from their own computer at http://www.co.washington.mn.us/info_for_residents/library/ customers designate the Library Express (Hugo City Hall) as the pickup point. They will be informed via e-mail when their materials are available.
The items will be available for 48 hours from the time of delivery to the library. Delivery schedules are currently being finalized. When they pick up the items, customers will enter the last four digits of their library card number onto a keypad. They will then be directed to the locker number where their checked out items are located.
The Washington County Library Express equipment was delivered and installed in early July. The equipment cost $44,000, plus installation costs. Service is now available. There will be a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at Hugo City Hall.
This project is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Minnesota Department of Education, State Library Services.
