LEID Products Unveils Financial Benefits of the BACS System

Retired Chief of Police Details Responsibility of Department Budget and Involvement in First Deployments of the BACS System

Auburn Hills, MI – July 10, 2012 – LEID Products, LLC., the leader in electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced the availability of a new white paper, The Financial Benefits of the BACS System. Written by Dale LaCroix, the paper details his responsibilities for the Police Department budget during his role as Deputy Chief of Police for the Waterford Township. LaCroix was involved with the evaluation of one of the first Biometric Access Control Systems (BACS) from LEID Products.

The BACS system – developed for LEID Products by Patti Engineering – is a proven asset management system used in law enforcement departments throughout the country to securely store and track weapons and valuable equipment allowing for full accountability of armory assets. Earlier in 2012, LEID Products released version 2.0 of the BACS ID Station Kiosk, enhancing its sleek tamper proof construction and larger kiosk screen for additional security and functionality.

“The cost of the BACS system is more than justifiable. My station, prior to implementing the BACS system, was losing 2,190 hours of productivity a year from our supervisors responsible for checking equipment in and out,” said Dale LaCroix. “It is my opinion that no department should be without this type of system, and in reality, most cannot afford not to have this system.”

In the white paper, LaCroix explains the time loss using the old process as supervisors were manually issuing equipment to officers at the start of a shift and checking equipment back in when the officer’s shift ended. Time savings alone paid for the system after only 18 months.

“While the measurable cost savings are impressive, our BACS System also included unexpected additional asset management features,” said Sam Hoff, President of LEID Products, LLC. “LaCroix notes in the paper that the most significant savings were far beyond measurable. For example, the reduction in liability exposure is hard to measure but perhaps the most significant.”

LaCroix details additional cost savings in the whitepaper such as the ability to have multiple officers share equipment. He also notes that the savings seen related to liability, while they may be immeasurable, could be the greatest savings of all.

If you are interested in the reading the full white paper, please email Georgia Whalen at gwhalen@LEIDProducts.com.

LEID Products to Showcase iLibrary System at KPLA Conference
The iLibrary System, an Innovative Standalone Service Branch will be Demonstrated at Kentucky Public Library Association Conference

Auburn Hills, MI - April 9, 2012 - LEID Products, LLC., the leader in electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced they will be attending the Kentucky Public Library Association Conference April 11-13 in Bowling Green, KY. The company will showcase their iLibrary System, which has been implemented in six counties in Kentucky, in addition to the existing iLibrary installations around the country.

LEID Products recently announced that Scott County Public Library will offer extended library access to patrons through the introduction of the iLibrary System in Sadieville, KY. Also recently announced are new enhancements to the iLibrary Kiosk, which serves as the point of access and interfaces with Electronic Modular Access Units that house the library materials ordered. The new kiosk includes a larger screen, a sleeker, more modern appeal, and the entire system is tamperproof to ensure system safety in public areas. Patrons can browse materials online or directly through the iLibrary System Kiosk. Orders are placed through the kiosk or remotely via the internet using their library card number and patrons can choose to receive an email or phone call with access code when their materials are available.

“We are excited about the array of sessions we are offering this year, from learning more about technology, such as eBooks and social media as they pertain to library services, to research information on genealogy and local history resources within the state,” said Susan Nimersheim, Library Director, Grant County, KY. “This conference enables library staff from across the state to meet and share experiences and knowledge with their peers.”

“LEID Products is proud to support the KPLA Conference; our iLibrary System has been tremendously successful and well received by library patrons in Kentucky,” said Sam Hoff, president of LEID Products. “Our public libraries continue to be faced with flat budgets, increased demands for services, and constricted open hours while the cost for construction and personnel continues to escalate. Our self-service iLibrary System allows public libraries to provide library access where a traditional brick and mortar library is not an option.”

The theme of the KPLA Conference this year is “Shaping the Future: Transforming Kentucky’s Public Libraries” and the show will take place from 8:00am - 5:00pm Wednesday, April 11 through Friday, April 13 at the Holiday Inn University Plaza in Bowling Green, KY. Close to 400 attendees are expected to attend.

This year, a very dedicated group of librarians and trustees compiled a program of education for trustee certification. The voluntary program ensures that everyone gets the same message, is made aware of the laws governing libraries, and understands fully his or her role and responsibility as a library trustee. At this year’s conference trustees have the option to achieve this certification.

Auburn-Hills, Mich.-based LEID Products (leidproducts.com) has developed a partnership with New Hampshire-based Advanced Kiosks (advancedkiosks.com) to develop its wall-mounted kiosks for its law enforcement customers.

“We have been looking for a thin, wall-mounted kiosk that could integrate our software system that secures law enforcement departments’ armory,” says Sam Hoff, president of LEID Products. “We found exactly what we wanted in Advanced Kiosks and they have met our needs in both their products and customer service.”

LEID Products will install a software system (developed by LEID’s sister company Patti Engineering – pattieng.com) into the kiosk and law enforcement personnel can access their specific equipment from the armory via a biometric fingerprint reader, user password, biometric hand geometry reader, key fob or employee ID card.
