Plano, Texas Police Department Increases Security by Integrating Access.it Evidence System

Plano Police Department of Plano, Texas installs LEID Products Access.it Evidence System for use by over 300 police officers

Auburn Hills, MI & Plano, TX – August 16, 2018 – LEID Products, LLC, the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced the successful implementation of its Access.it Evidence System into the Plano Police Department in Plano, Texas. The system provides secure, digital chain-of-custody tracking for over 2,500 pieces of evidence each month. The department has over 300 officers who have benefitted from the system’s ease of use and reliable handling of sensitive evidence such as DNA and firearms.

In 2014, the Plano Police Department of Plano, Texas underwent a large-scale renovation.  Working with Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, they chose LEID Products’ Access.it Evidence System to replace the outdated key and lock system. The Access.it locker system is specifically designed to provide an extremely secure chain of custody during the critical short-term evidence storage period with the convenience of self-service drop-off and pick-up.

The new system has provided Plano PD’s officers with a wide range of locker sizes and mail slots to use at their convenience, preventing lockers from filling up. The Access.it’s card reader and barcode system has proven to be user-friendly with a short learning curve.

“We could not be happier with the system,” said Christi Wilson, Plano PD’s Property/Evidence Unit Supervisor, who has been in the department for 29 years.  “We are taking in lot more firearms and DNA than we ever have, so security was a huge priority for us when looking for a new system. This system has met and exceeded our expectations. We particularly love that it is user-friendly, web-enabled, easy to maintain and to keep clean. […]

Campbell County Public Library Reports Success of Two LEID Products Library Express Locations Serving Rural Kentucky

iLibrary System provides self-service branch, resulting in increased circulation and library card holders.

Silver Grove & Melbourne, KY – February 5, 2018 – LEID Products, LLC, the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced its iLibrary system is proving successful for patrons in Campbell County, Kentucky.  Two Library Express locations were installed in Silver Grove, KY and Melbourne, KY in May 2017.

Silver Grove Express was installed at the Silver Grove Fire Station.  Melbourne Express is at St. Philip Catholic School.  Each location has a set of lockers and a book return under an awning.  Library staff delivers requested materials to the lockers Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Patrons can request materials through the website, the CCPL app, or by calling one of the branches.  Patrons can access the locker containing their items using their library card number on the key pad at any time, day or night.

The systems have been received with a lot of enthusiasm from the community.  Combined, the Library Express locations are seeing an average monthly circulation of about 400 items.  As expected, the St. Philip School students and teachers are taking advantage of the location attached to their building.  In addition, drivers from a nearby drywall company have been reserving audio books for long days of driving.  “Some people have learned the schedule and are meeting the van before it stocks the lockers,” said JC Morgan, Library Director for the Campbell County Public Library.  “Over 100 people from the community have signed up for library cards since the installation,” and the increase in cardholders has been attributed to the enhanced convenience of the system.

Both locations are situated on Kentucky Highway 8 along the Ohio River.  […]
