Pickering Public Library of Pickering, Ohio, had its first Access.it Library System installed back in July of 2015. Tony Howard, Director of Pickerington Public Library comments on the library’s success using the system over the years saying, “The addition of 24 hour pickup lockers has been a welcome enhancement to our services here at the Pickerington Public Library. Auburn Hills, MI – June 6, 2017 – LEID Products, LLC., the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced growing demand for its Access.it Library Solutions in Ohio and Illinois.  These libraries report that the popularity of self-service after-hour pickup service among library patrons is growing. Worthington and Pickerington Public Libraries in Ohio and Barrington Public Library in Illinois are all expanding their self-service locations originally purchased from LEID Products.

LEID’s Access.it System with electronic library lockers is a cost-effective, secure, rugged, and tamperproof self-service libra  ry access system for libraries to make materials more accessible to all patrons. Libraries can offer 24/7 access to library holds by placing the self-service Access.it units outside the branch. Libraries can also open new self-service mini branches at other community gathering locations such as recreation centers, parks, train stations, etc.

A customer of LEID Products for ten years, Barrington Area Library offers patrons four self-service pickup locations: South Branch in the South Barrington Park District; Willow Recreation Center; Barrington Hills Village Hall; and the Barrington Train Station. The new Access.it electronic locker system will be installed at the Willow Recreation Center. Head of Operations, Vicki Rakowski commented on the success of the program and working with LEID Products, “The lockers are high-quality, very functional and secure. It is easy for customers and staff to load and unload them. It can’t be complicated and they are not. LEID Products provides really good and responsive customer service. You absolutely get what you pay for.”

New Library Outposts Increase Access and Engagement for Patrons in Trenton, New Jersey

New Library Outposts Increase Access and Engagement for Patrons in Trenton, New Jersey

The American Library Association’s motto is “The best reading, for the largest number, at the least cost.”  In the digital age, the unwritten motto for librarians is “Get Creative.”  The Trenton Free Public Library in New Jersey has brought both of those mottos to life with the new Library Outposts that opened this year.

Get Creative

In 2010, as a result of the recession, the library’s budget was cut in half.  The Trenton Library was forced to close four branches, keeping only the main branch.  This cut drastically reduced the library’s accessibility to its patrons. The staff got creative about finding a solution.  They wanted to increase engagement despite the reduced budget.

Kimberly Matthews, Executive Director of the Trenton Free Public Library, remembered using a locker system at a library in San Francisco years ago.  Kimberly and her team researched options and gleaned ideas from a library conference.  Eventually, they came up with the idea of a Library Outpost – an extension of the main library branch into the community.

The best reading

Kimberly and her team decided to build the Outposts using LEID’s electronic storage lockers as well as a library vending machine from Public Information Kiosk, Inc. LEID’s electronic locker system allows customers to order any book from the library’s main branch and pick it up from the locker using the keypad and their library card.  The vending machine, stocked with popular titles in a variety of genres, offers customers spur of the moment choices.

The two products complement each other.  Kimberly says, “The library vending machine is like having a snack vending machine; the choices are limited. But offering LEID’s electronic locker system is like adding grocery delivery – patrons can select from the entire library’s offering and have it delivered […]

Demand for Reliable Technical Support and Service in Library Industry Drives LEID Products Expansion

Demand for Reliable Technical Support and Service in Library Industry Drives LEID Products Expansion

Library administrators take action to meet growing popularity of self-service after-hours pickup service among library patrons; need for U.S. based service and support to maintain after-hour pickup systems spurs LEID Products expanding efforts in Ohio area to satisfy influx of requests.
Auburn Hills, MI – June 4, 2015 – LEID Products, LLC., the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced that it is expanding its presence in the Ohio area to meet the growing demand for its Access.it and iLibrary solutions, driven by the company’s reputation for reliable service and support. The systems enable libraries to offer self-service after-hour pickup hours, or offer a complete standalone service branch to bring library service closer to outlying communities.

Each year, an increasing number of library patrons are utilizing Library ‘after-hours’ pickup service to access library materials. In years past library administrators found offering this service to be cumbersome; when problems occurred with the electronics, hardware and/or software, as the vendors they had purchased from did not offer service or support. Recent increase in LEID Products library sales has been driven by the company’s reputation for outstanding U.S. based support and service, which ensures library administrators a successful ‘after-hours pickup’ program.

Similar to many of the library administrators across the U.S., Director of Pickerington Library in Pickerington, Ohio, Suellen Goldsberry, constantly evaluates how to expand the library’s reach and impact. Though Pickerington Library offered extended hours, it was not enough to meet its demand. Goldsberry purchased LEID’s Access.it System with electronic library lockers after consulting with Worthington Ohio Library. Worthington had hired LEID Products to replace all of its electronic components at its offsite library pickup/drop-off location, and upgraded the old locker […]

LEID Products continues to support Kentucky Libraries through its participation at the annual conference; attending librarians will have the opportunity to visit LEID Products’ exhibit to learn how to extend patron outreach with LEID’s iLibrary and Access.it self-service library systems.
Auburn Hills, MI- March 17, 2015  LEID Products, LLC., the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced that it is attending the Kentucky Public Library Associated (KPLA) Conference in Lexington, KY this week. The company, as in previous years, is a sponsor of the KPLA Conference, and is displaying its iLibrary and Access.it systems that enable libraries to offer extended self-service hours or offer a complete standalone service branch to bring library service closer to outlying communities.

LEID’s system encompasses the iLibrary Kiosk and Access.it electronic lockers with keypad to store library holds for patron pick-up. Patrons browse materials online or directly through the iLibrary System Kiosk; orders are placed through the kiosk or remotely via the internet using their library card number. Patrons can choose to receive an email or phone call with an access code when their materials are available for pick-up. Upon notification the requested hold is ready for pick-up; patrons can retrieve holds from the electronic lockers by scanning their library card and/or entering an access code provided by the library. The locker containing their requested materials will open automatically. LEID’s software tracks all electronic locker transactions providing the library administrator with real-time activity and the ability to generate reports on demand.

“We continue to be impressed with KPLA and this conference,” said Sam Hoff, president, LEID Products. “The self-service LEID solution has been implemented in several locations across Kentucky and the interest we are […]
