BACS as a Tool to Improve School Safety

School safety is not achieved with a single program or piece of security equipment. Excessive building security (e.g., metal detectors, armed guards) can actually decrease students’ sense of safety and does not necessarily guarantee protection. While some may advocate additional
security personnel in schools, others may advocate arming teachers. Both appear to be contrary to the National Association of Psychologists report referenced above. The use of LEID’s Biometric Asset Control Systems, BACS™ could be used as a tool to expand the resources available to school security officials, administrators and teachers without the outward appearance of armed teachers, or more armed security personnel in schools.

Are you a good candidate for asset management system?

Are you a good candidate for asset management system? Take the survey below. If you can answer yes to any of the questions below, you may want to consider an access control asset management system. If you can answer yes to three or more of the questions, your department would greatly benefit from an access control asset management system.

• Do officers share weapons, equipment and/or keys?
• Are shared weapons and/or keys manually tracked?
• Have any weapons, equipment and/or keys been misplaced for more than an hour?
• Have any weapons, equipment and/or keys been stolen?
• Has equipment been damaged without knowing who was responsible?
• Have any of your officers had to start their shift without all of their equipment because the issuing supervisor was unavailable?

Implementing an asset management system for accountability of shared assets can save your department thousands of dollars and many hours of wasted time. Download a white paper detailing the cost and time savings realized using the BACS Asset Management System.
